STEM for Girls

Some initiatives stay with us our whole lives as they impact all involved so hugely and I was reminded recently of the incredible force that we galvanised to make change for good in India Youth Education.

It all started with this Economist article -
http://ow.ly/Muep50AENOX. I asked my AP team to work on powerful solutioning.

We brainstormed ideas and the IBM team, in collaboration with the government of India, launched STEM for Girls.

Aiming to enable girl tech empowerment the program works on a multi-year learning curriculum, starting in grades 8 and 9. The initiative involves 50,000 volunteers from IBM to mentor 200,000 girl students across all states in more than 2,000 government secondary schools; to make a difference in encouraging a girl to continue to pursue a STEM career.

The goal of changing the lives of 1 million students and 4 million teachers was unleashed!

Such an amazing team involved! Thank you to many joyously tagged here - I am so proud we improved the skills of young girls and boys in schools across India, arming them to change India and the world.

What projects and initiatives in your career have made a difference to you and others?

How are you able to help STEM education? I would love to get your views and help.
