Leadership Bias

As many leaders are experiencing one of the most extraordinary periods in history, I hope that my posts are helpful as we 'peel the onion' on important concepts that can help us navigate through these times of incredible pressure.Among many topics shared I have talked about growth mindsets, and active listening and asking. During my research and daily reading and mentoring the topic of unconscious bias reared its head. It’s critical that we delve deep to address the conscious and unconscious bias’s that we all have, to recognise and act upon them to make us better leaders! Now is the perfect time to be aware of inward thinking and instead bring together powerful new teams, with demographic and cognitive diversity to innovate and supercharge our responses.A recent article by Harvard Business School shares 3 biases that shaped CEOs’ pandemic response:1. “The glass is half full” versus “the glass is half empty.”2. Costs versus people.3. Short-term versus long-term thinking.I highly recommend a read : http://ow.ly/Zln950AW7gmThis sketchnote is a thought provoking illustration.
